Is 2018 the year when software development and teaching start to become one in Moodle? The organization committee of MoodleMoot US 2018 would like to convince you that the answer is yes.

On a Moodle Forum thread, Moodle HQ’s Petra Vanessie announced new details about the US Moot, which will take place in Denver, Colorado, October 29 and 30.

The focus of her announcement is the program. As is now customary, Moodle founder and CEO Martin Dougiamas will open the event with his keynote address. Workshops, Masterclasses, sessions by commercial Partners and the Moodle Users Association, and a closing “Dev Jam – Hackfest” have been preliminarily scheduled.

Registrations for MoodleMoot US 2018 are already open, with early bird rates set at $550 USD if you register by July 31st.

In the meantime, preparations are nearly done for MoodleMoot UK & Ireland 2018, to be held in Glasgow in less than two months, as Moodle HQ’s Community Educator Mary Cooch informs us in her own post. Aspiring presenters should receive notice of approval by the end of January. Early bird registration rates, set at £350 for the three days, ends on February 5th. The insular Moot will take place Monday to Wednesday, March 26-28. Once again, Dougiamas will open with a keynote. Short of another keynote speaker, GDPR is set to become one of the highlights of the Glasgow gathering.

European regulation will also be a key issue at MoodleMoot Germany 2018, but here will be framed within the larger topic of “Educational offers and design in the process of social digitization.” A Pre-Konferenz is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, March 12-13, which will offer workshops for beginners and advanced users alike on subjects like analytics, plugin development with mustache templates, Moodle-based project management, Mahara, and others. Then on Wednesday and Thursday, March 14-15, the Hauptkonferenz will begin with Dougiamas and feature keynotes by Ralf Hilgenstock and Liz Dalton, along with simultaneous talks in six rooms to fill both days. Registration fees for the Kassel “Moot” are set at €95 (€60 for Baden-Württenberg public schools teachers), including materials and the evening event, but not the workshops, which are differently priced.
