This one comes from the forums on Moodle.org, the Moodler asked: “I have 50 questions in a category, but I want each student to only answer 10 random questions in the quiz I’ve created, is that possible?”

Mister Moodle says, “It is!”

Here’s a quick screencast created to illustrate the possibility of generating quizzes randomly by having it pull from a large question pool.  There are some great benefits

  • each student getting a test/exam unique to their user account,
  • the ability to let students retake exams that are entirely new/different and
  • an additional level of accountability.

Check out the quick screencast below created using Screenr.
