Here’s a really slick application of drag and drop for Moodle.  The block, according to Davo Smith, the developer, is simply a proof of concept for adding easy drag and drop functionality to Moodle courses.  That said, for Moodle 2.0 it works like a charm.

Install the block and voila: drag and drop functionality to the topic/week areas within any course where the block is available.  It’s very easy to use.  I look forward to it being finished and submitted to the Moodle Addon’s database at

  1. Really good to see this in Moodle; we’ve got an equivalent for an in-house developed application, but haven’t had time to port it to Moodle (or more accurately, can’t make a credible argument for developer time to duplicate existing functionality), much to the frustration of the local Moodle users!

Davo, the main thing I would say is if you can add an upload progress dialog, it will probably help a lot. I suspect otherwise when uploading large files it will look like nothing is happening, while the upload goes on, and users may try uploading the file several times…
