Please join them for Making the Most of Moodle, a four-part series exploring design tips, best practices for training students, creating engaging content, and providing productive feedback in Moodle.

Webinar 1: Designing for Quality

Date and Time: Tuesday, April 5 at 1pm ET

Description: Quality courses can be designed in Moodle! In this introductory webinar, we will explore strategies for creating pedagogically sound courses coupled with various Moodle tools that can accomplish the strategy.
What you will learn:

  • Various instructional design concepts including chunking content for knowledge acquisition, creating consistent navigation, designing engaging content and activities, giving effective feedback, and clear communication approaches
  • Moodle tools that can be used to meet the instructional design concept in a course

Webinar 2: Helping Students Find Their Way

Date and Time: Tuesday, April 12 at 1pm ET

Description: From the moment students enter our Moodle course, we want our students to know where they are going and how to accomplish the required learning tasks. We want our students to spend time on learning content, not learning where to go to get to that content.

What you will learn:

  • The importance of consistent navigation
  • Various navigation techniques available within Moodle to achieve such consistency
  • Why to chunk material and how this technique can be accomplished in Moodle for a more successful student experience
  • Strategies for writing for the web, formatting and file naming, and design look and feel that can help ensure a direct student learning path

Webinar 3: Creating Engaging Content and Activities

Webinar 4: Providing Effective Feedback

Date and Time: Tuesday, April 26 at 1pm ET

Description: Feedback is essential for student development and progress but may be tedious and seemingly unproductive for the instructor. In this webinar, we will explore strategies for offering student feedback that can propel students forward toward meeting your course goals or outcomes, while also be efficient for your time.
What you will learn:

  • Appropriate and efficient feedback approaches, such as rubrics, peer review, self-evaluation, and audio/video recording in Moodle
  • Approaches to structuring your schedule to ensure feedback is constructive in your learning environment

Take-Away/Job Aid: A Feedback Strategy Worksheet that identifies feedback approaches, benefits and drawbacks, as well as a chart to allow you to identify feedback options used in a course and future changes to assist in feedback.
