As per the regular release calendar, Moodle has released minor point versions for all the currently supported release versions. However, the next major release version – Moodle 3.2 is currently under QA testing cycle and is scheduled to be released on 28th November.
In a recent announcement, Marina Glancy – Development Process Manager at Moodle HQ, posted about the release of the new minor point release versions of Moodle. The major points to be noted here are that this is the last release of Moodle 2.9 version and Moodle 3.0 is now supported for Security fixes only.
Any particular version of Moodle is supported completely till one year from the date of release and another six months for any security issues. The Long Term Release versions are supported for initial one year followed by the security fixes for the next two years. So if you are planning to upgrade your Moodle site then you should look into the LTS release if it matches your upgrade schedule. The latest LTS release for Moodle is Moodle 3.1 which will be supported till May 2019.
