6/23 was the last day for comments on the Moodle Association Rules draft. I had my original take on the first draft (which is available here). What’s changed since then?
- Section 8 – Membership levels which come in four flavors: Individual, Organisation Bronze, Organisation Silver, and Organisation Gold (cost TBD)
- Section 18 – Quorum and proceedings for general meetings rewritten: accommodations for the international mix of prospective members and nature of general membership have been made with explicit instructions for the Association General Meetings to be inclusive and include both asynchronous and synchronous opportunities for communication
- Section 21 – Clarity in how power will be distributed through members and how those powers can be transferred through a proxy
You can access and read the full draft here, the next step in the process is filing the paperwork to make the Association a legal entity within Australia.
Additionally, Moodle HQ has announced a project manager for the operation in charge of getting the Association kicked off and running:
Shannon Johnston, our Project Manager at Moodle HQ for setting up the Association,… Shannon comes from an educational background and was the project manager for the successful implementation of Moodle as the institutional LMS at a university here in Western Australia.
Here’s to a speedy paperwork path through the Government of Western Australia’s Department of Commerce! In the meantime expect the website to launch in mid-July.
