Moodle Makeover: A Sneak Peek at a Site Migration

I’ve been working with a group providing a certification via Moodle since late 2007 or so, their original site was hosted on Moodle 1.8 and then for several years it was 1.9 in all of it’s stable glory. Over the years we were hesitant to upgrade due to our shared hosting implementation and the benefits of an update and migration did not outweigh the simple fact that the site was up, stable and continued to operate in a way that fit all of our needs.

Fast forward to today, we’ve been looking at ways to increase usability of the site and provide students a better experience. In Moodle 2.5 and the Essential theme I think we found it. I’ll be covering a few of the tips and tricks that I discovered in our move (the site is parked in QA before we launch 100%); these will be posted in the coming weeks.

But for kicks, here’s a sneak peek of the difference Essential and Moodle 2.5 can make.
