Even the highest quality course can stumble under a faulty login page. Take note of the following easy to miss but potentially dramatic obstacles keeping your users from doing, learning and buying more on your site, courtery of Paradiso Solutions.

Grueling sign-up pages

It is getting harder to justify the absence of one-click login, also known as Single Sign On (SSO). Large companies with several portals, like those who offer an online learning program through an LMS, could make it simpler for users to authenticate across portals by bridging credentials among platforms. Another popular form of SSO involves using accounts from other services, like Google or Facebook. This gives your users the security that their data is highly protected and gives them more control over their information.

Too many (or too few) emails

The time of email will not be over for a while. In the meantime, it has become an art to cater to users’ preferences about how often they would like to get your information. While email confirmation or password reset emails cannot be avoided, it is always tricky to gauge if notifying users about new courses, discounts, or features is something they consider valuable, or perhaps making you guilty of spam. As per usual, the answer lies in giving them clarity and control. Make sure your notifications panel is easy to access, understand, and modify.

Oversharing ≠ Engagement

We all want our users to be more vocal about the things they love in our courses, but making it easier for them to spam their friends might have drawbacks down the line for your brand (and your users.) There is value in social media, but before mindlessly plugging in sharing links, focus on what they deliver: engagement, interaction, and a chance of connection. Why not focus on building these opportunities from within your Moodle site first?
