This one is new to me: Type (martin) into any text area in Moodle for a treat.

As a bonus, if you’re handy with creating emoticons you can even add your own.  Just go to your Moodle and login as admin.  Go to Administration, Appearance, HTML Editor and follow the instructions for adding your own emoticon.

  1. I think this is a great way to show off how easy it is to make your own emoticons. A practical use of this is to put custom emoticons as the first character in an activity or resource description/summary – this could be very useful for visual feedback (for instance, use a heart or create a red checkmark for new items, etc.).
