To learn about Moodle is to also be introduced to BigBlueButton. The conferencing, presentation and real-time collaboration app is something, without which, Moodle just wouldn’t be Moodle. Now, a post on Moodle.com is formally announcing the integration of BigBlueButton in MoodleCloud, to continue the long-standing partnership.
BBN in MoodleCloud service tiers begin at no cost, allowing six-users to join an online conference, for live, high quality stream. It is followed in multiples of six for up to 30 users joining a web talk, for a full online classroom. All service tiers including the features for which BigBlueButton is known: A/V, whiteboard, presentation support. Moodle Cloud also provides a free tier service.
To enable BigBlueButton on MoodleCloud, log in and visit the “Upgrade your plan and purchase add-ons” options.
BigBlueButton was developed under Open Source licensing by Blindside Networks. The broadcasting and recording tool provides meeting management features such as annotations and mic control for instructors. It is compatible with LTI and even has an API for developers to integrate the system into their own applications.
Moodle Cloud is an official Moodle project that gives easy access to the equally Open Source LMS. A free installation for up to 200mb and 50 users is available, and premium versions with no ads and expanded functionality are also ready to upgrade.
