Essential theme, which is among the most downloaded plugin in last 3 months on Moodle Plugins database, has been updated to a new version with fixed bugs and fixtures.
In a recent anouncement on Moodle forums, Gareth J Barnard has posted about the changes in the new version of the essential theme. The list of changes is as follows:
- FIX: Issue #566: Tidy up Marketing spot mark-up and CSS. - FIX: Issue #569: Inactive category icon look all dimmed. - FIX: Issue #572: iOS home screen icons broken. - FIX: Issue #573: Wrong icon color in navbar (login icon). - FIX: Alternative colours dimmed text colour. - FIX: MDL-51921. - FIX: Missing header background. - FIX: Conflict with Collapsed Topics. - FIX: Tidy up footer blocks. - FIX: Coding fault in admin layout. - NEW: Pull request #574: Custom favicon, Logo height and Turn off CSS styling of scrollbars settings - thanks to Mikhail Janowski for this. - NEW: Footer block colours. - NEW: Improved child theme support.

The Moodle 3.0 version will take quite a bit of time to make because of all the changes in ‘bootstrapbase/less/moodle’. At the moment I am considering an alternative funding model to support the theme whereby some of the extras would be removed and then go into a paid for ‘child’ theme.
So, it seems that Moodle 3.0 version for Essential theme will take some time until then you can enjoy other new Moodle themes here.
