Connected 2023
Connected Conference OpenLMS recently announced the release of Moodle versions 3.0.3, 2.9.5, 2.8.11 and 2.7.13. Because these versions contain important security fixes, Moodle is encouraging everyone to update their respective sites as soon as possible. And, you should also note that the 2.7 and 2.8 branches are only supported for security updates in any case.

You can check out the specific release notes for each of the versions at these links:

There is quite a bit of work that’s been done, but the highlights from the 3.0.3 release include:

  • There are fixes to make assigning quick grading more reliable
  • When you’re restoring a course from a different Moodle site, you now have the option to select “Allow admin conflict resolution” to make the transition smoother and more reliable
  • Grading criteria for course completion now show actual grades (and not percentages)
  • You once again have the ability to assign roles to blocks in the My home and default dashboard areas
  • Headers that you’ve created in the Atto editor are now correctly displayed in the Wiki table of contents

If you’re interested in the specific fixes, my favorites include:

  • The misalignment of the gradebook where a category has no total has been fixed
  • If you release an assignment submitted by a team, the grade is given to all group members
  • Sub menu items should now work correctly in touch screen devices
  • Paypal enrollment should be smoother with bug fixes to irregular character submissions
  • The glossary popup has been center positioned
  • When you unlock an assignment, the submissions for that assignment are also auto unlocked
  • You can reset a course start date while chatting
  • Plagiarism checking/prevention links have been moved to the top of the text being submitted
