Moodlerooms recently hosted a webinar for it’s Joule userbase to usher in some changes which will come with the upgrade to Moodle 2.4 code base. In addition to the new features available in the core and specific to Moodlerooms (xpLor and a Blackboard Collaborate-based tool specifically for joule), they also unveiled a new base theme called “Minimal”.
The theme was purportedly designed with Tablet users in mind and: “maximizes of content space and reduces block space/usage, [creates] easy access to important features by making them no more than two clicks away, and [brings] easy branding and a crisper look to icons“
The theme is a bit of a departure from standard themes represents a rethinking of Moodle’s layout by putting all blocks in a main navigation header across the site and user experience. While details are limited, you can click around at a demo site here: http://phill.moodlerooms.com/.
If you happen to be a Moodlerooms hosted school be sure to sign up for their webinar series regarding Moodle 2.4.
Disclosure: I work for a Moodlerooms hosted company and attended the webinar last week. The screenshot I grabbed from the webinar was taken during a demonstration of the new theme.
