PoodLL 3 is released recently by Justin Hunt popularly known as the PoodLL guy with a lot of big changes and a change of the business model. The new version of the PoodLL is the latest iteration of PoodLL for Moodle 3.1 with major changes.
As reported in July when PoodLL 3 demo was released, the new version contains a lot of new changes with premium subscriptions based model. This change of the plugin business model is based on previous moodle forum discussion as reported here and here. The most notable features in the new version include:

  • Cloud based transcoding
  • PoodLL Mobile
  • Cloud Storage
  • Exciting Widgets
  • HTML5 recording
  • Customisable audio/video player template system


The premium version is available under two pricing categories – Individual teacher and Institution. It is still available as an Open source software which can be downloaded from the Moodle plugins directory or Github Page but you need to provide a registration key to get it working. The cost of an annual subscription is $US79 for “Individual Teachers” and $US379 for “Institutions”.
