With TinyMCE going away, you might be interested in tracking the progress on the new default text editor in Moodle, Atto. The Front End team from HQ is using their Prototypes.Moodle.net site to help showcase the tool as it develops. You can check back often to see how things are going at http://prototype.moodle.net/.

A few things cool things to note: two new editing icons in the expanded customizable tool bar are the Accessibility Checker and Screenreader Helper which help to identify tags and links used in the text so that you can be sure your text is compliant.
