L’Université Catholique du Louvain, Belgium’s largest university on the French-speaking side (third overall), awarded Moodle founder and current CEO of Moodle HQ, Martin Dougiamas, with a honorary doctorate. Louvain’s Brussels campus was the host of MoodleMoot Francophonie 2018, a gathering of the French-speaking populations in Europe and the world.

Three themes ruled the event, which also doubled as Belgium’s first MoodleMoot, according to Louvain’s Philippe Neyt: How Moodle transforms the space and time in the relationship between student and learner; Moodle in the creativity, critical thinking, and civic engagement of learners; and Moodle as an open hub of knowledge and skills.
